Cadets

Cadets in the Civil Air Patrol have the opportunity to be a part of the United States Air Force Total Force. As the auxiliary of USAF, cadets receive world class leadership training, developed in partnership with the United States Air Force. 

In addition to the nations leading character development and leadership program, CAP cadets are eligible to receive the rank of E-3 in the Air Force, should they receive the Billy Mitchell Award (C/2d Lt.) and chose to enlist. Statistically speaking, Civil Air Patrol cadets make up about 10% of the cadet corps at the United States Air Force Academy. 

"From scouting, Civil Air Patrol or Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) to other community or church groups, pick activities that most interest you and find ways to bring your talents to bear within those organizations" - United States Air Force Academy

Cadets also receive the opportunity to fly, free of charge, in CAP airplanes on orientation flights. Each cadet receives a total of 10 orientations flights (5 powered in airplanes, 5 in glider airplanes), where they are able to take the controls of the airplane. CAP cadets are eligible to apply for flight scholarships, which aids cadets in funding pilot training coursework and flying.
